Island Peak Everest Marathon - 17 Days

Everest Marathon 2020

Island Peak Trek and Everest Marathon is an interesting adventure in Nepal.  Experience two of the best adventures in Everest at the same time. Conquer the Island Peak (6187 m) first; then hike to Everest Base Camp. Do two days tented camp at Everest Base Camp; then participate on Tenzing Hillary Everest Marathon on 29th May.

Island Peak Trek is one of the best trekking peaks in Nepal. Island Peak was given by English Mountaineer Eric Shipton in 1953 as he thought it resembles an island in a sea of ice. Later in 1983 it has got its new name IMJA TSE. The mesmerizing peak was first submitted by Tenzing Norgay Sherpa- the first Everest summiteer. And getting to the top of the peak and collecting the best views of Himalayas is a joy.

Next, this trip also includes trekking to Everest base camp- the most anticipated trekking in the world. Get to the base camp of Mount Everest; and create the best feeling. And amazingly, two nights tented camp at Everest Base Camp is absolute joy. Then the final section is the famous Everest Marathon. The worlds’ highest elevation takes places every year on 29th May. The marathon has given name- Tenzing Hillary Everest Marathon. It was started to celebrate the success of Everest summit by Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Sir Edmund Hillary in 29th May 1953 A.D. The Everest Marathon is categorized into three categories;

  1. 60 km Extreme Ultra
  2. 42 km Full Marathon
  3. 21 Km Half Marathon.

The Everest Marathon has started in 2003 and it has already completed its 17th edition in 2019 already.
